Welcome to Grace Lutheran Church!

We are a hometown congregation in Adel, Iowa who shares a living, daring confidence in God's grace.
Whether you are new to the community, visiting the area, or exploring your faith, we’d love to journey with you.

You – just as you are, just as God created you to be – are welcome here!

Worship with Grace for Holy Week and Easter

All are welcome to join us for Holy Week and Easter. This central week of the church year leads us through Jesus’ final days—gathering in gratitude, hearing his command to love, sharing in the Lord’s Supper, and walking the way of the cross—until we rejoice in the resurrection on Easter morning.

Schedule for Holy Week 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church, including dates and times for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, with a background image of a crown of thorns.

Maundy Thursday - April 2 at 6:35 pm (at Peace Lutheran Church)
Join us at Peace Lutheran Church for a “Faith Feast” and shared worship service

This Thursday is called “Maundy,” which means “command,” from the verse in John’s gospel in which Jesus commands us to love another as he loved us. We hear about Jesus’ last meal with his disciples before his death, and Jesus washing his disciples’ feet. (No online worship.)

Good Friday - April 3 at 6:35 pm (Grace Lutheran Church)
The Tenebrae service of Darkness and Light at Grace Lutheran Church

Why do we call this day Good? In John’s telling of Jesus’ passion, Jesus is “I am,” the God who reigns from the cross, the king who discusses theology with Pilate. Listen for the differences between John’s passion and Matthew’s passion that we heard on Sunday. At this service we pray for all the world, and we confess that it is our sin that crucified Christ. (No online worship.)

Easter Sunday - April 5 at 6:30 am (Sunrise) and 9:00 am (Festival)
Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!

In the early morning light, we will gather outside around the campfire (weather permitting) for our Sunrise Worship to remember the resurrection dawn and the new light of Easter. At 9:00 am, we will gather in the sanctuary for Festival Worship with songs of joyful praise! We celebrate holy communion at both services. Join us for fellowship with cinnamon rolls and coffee after each service!

Learn and Grow with Grace

In his ministry, Jesus invited people to “come and see” – to experience God’s love, grace, and forgiveness – and then to share this good news with all.  God gathers us into community to learn and grow together, and then sends us out into the world, to love and serve our neighbors in Jesus’ name.

All are welcome to journey together as followers of Jesus and share God’s gracious love and grace in Christ with each other and all people. Faith formation and discipleship offerings for all ages include Sunday Forum, Tuesday Bible study, Wednesdays with Grace, and more. We hope you will join us soon!
