Welcome to Grace Lutheran Church!
We are a hometown congregation in Adel, Iowa who shares a living, daring confidence in God's grace.
Whether you are new to the community, visiting the area, or exploring your faith, we’d love to journey with you.
You – just as you are, just as God created you to be – are welcome here!
Worship with Us!
Sundays at 9:00 am and Wednesdays at 6:35 pm
All are welcome to join us for worship on Sundays at 9:00 am (online option available) and Wednesdays at 6:35 pm.
Worship during Lent and Easter
Lent is a season of quiet reflection, honest confession, and renewed hope. We remember our human frailty and our deep need for God’s grace, trusting in Jesus who forgives, restores, and gives new life. During these forty days—and every day—God is at work redeeming the world and drawing us closer. You don’t have to earn salvation or have it all figured out. You’re simply invited to come, encounter Christ, and live in the freedom of God’s grace.
Sunday Series: Conversations with Jesus
On Sunday mornings during Lent, we will join the conversation between Jesus and different conversation partners. How does each person inform a contemporary life of discipleship? How might Jesus respond now to our own questions, confusions, and need for healing? Readings and silent reflection, and sharing will shape these holy conversations of Lent.
Wednesday Series: By Faith
What is faith? The text from Hebrews 11:1 defines it in this way: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” In this series, we will journey through the faith of people like Noah, Abraham, Moses, and the Israelites, culminating with Jesus, “the perfecter of our faith,” and his path to the cross.
Palm Sunday
Procession with Palms: Matthew 21:1-11
The Passion of the Lord: Matthew 26:14—27:66, read by the confirmation class.
To grasp something fully, we need to look at both sides: Palm Sunday and the Sunday of the Passion. We join in the joy of the palm procession, and we gather in sorrow at the foot of the cross. Come to sing both “Hosanna!” and “Lord, have mercy upon us.”
Maundy Thursday
Join us at Peace Lutheran Church for a “Faith Feast” and shared worship service
This Thursday is called “Maundy,” which means “command,” from the verse in John’s gospel in which Jesus commands us to love another as he loved us. We hear about Jesus’ last meal with his disciples before his death, and Jesus washing his disciples’ feet.
Good Friday
The Tenebrae service of Darkness and Light at Grace Lutheran Church
Why do we call this day Good? In John’s telling of Jesus’ passion, Jesus is “I am,” the God who reigns from the cross, the king who discusses theology with Pilate. Listen for the differences between John’s passion and Matthew’s passion that we heard on Sunday. At this service we pray for all the world, and we confess that it is our sin that crucified Christ.
Learn and Grow with Grace
In his ministry, Jesus invited people to “come and see” – to experience God’s love, grace, and forgiveness – and then to share this good news with all. God gathers us into community to learn and grow together, and then sends us out into the world, to love and serve our neighbors in Jesus’ name.
All are welcome to journey together as followers of Jesus and share God’s gracious love and grace in Christ with each other and all people. Faith formation and discipleship offerings for all ages include Sunday Forum, Tuesday Bible study, Wednesdays with Grace, and more. We hope you will join us soon!
